A friend of mine picked up a Mod.60 made in late seventies quite a few years ago from a guy who was a biker and had the pistol modified by removing the front of trigger guard ( looks professional done) so he could carry while using his gloves on. My friend offered to sell it to me but my question is Did this modification hurt the value a lot ? he's not asking a fortune for it. and rest of gun is in great shape.

That modification is commonly referred to as a "Fitz", named after a law enforcement officer years ago that did it. From any collectors standpoint the gun is now "ruined" and has no value. From a shooters standpoint it is probably worth about half a current model 60 is worth. I wouldn't pay over about $250 for it, and I personally wouldn't buy it as the trigger is exposed and if carried incorrectly it can snag and discharge.

thanks H Richard that was my thought too. you just confirmed it for me
