Model 60 worth ?

I haven't posted in awhile so hello all and Happy New Year.

Anyway, I was offered a Model 60 with the original Box ,i don't know what series it is but what do you think it is worth? It's very clean and the original owner wants 500$.

Price seems okay. Certainly depends upon condition and, yes, the "series" as you called it makes a big difference.

Photos and the serial number would be a big help to give you an idea.

It is impossible to offer a meaningful estimate of worth without knowing more about the gun.

It is probably safe to say that $500 is an average price for an average gun.

Hi Bob, this is JW5400, John. You were very helpful in a previous post of mine and I just that you answered this value question. Someone posted that you should be careful on this forum because you can become addicted. I'm beginning to understand what he meant.

I have an opportunity to buy a model 36 in nickel. Pics he sent to me look almost perfect. It's a 1972, serial # 74JXXX. He wants a little over $500. Your thoughts?

$500 with all original box and docs is on the awesome side of standard for any pre-lock model. The biggest difference maker in value will be if it's a 3" barrel or not, and if it can safely shoot magnum loads or not. Pre-lock 3" magnum offerings are more rare than their 2"(ish) .38 special counterparts and go for a couple hundred more pesos on average.

That sounds like a very fair price, for any Model 60, in good condition with the box.

A local pawn shop has a blue 2" Model 36 in great shape for $400.00, so I don't think $500.00 is unreasonable for an older Model 60 if in excellent condition.
