I have a model 60 no dash 38 spl stainless steel it has 2 screws with 38 S&W spl. on barrel. on frame it says Made In U.S.A.below that it says Marcus Registradas then it says Smith & Wesson Springfield Mass. can any one tell me anything about it? year of manufacture etc? and what is the marcus registrada for or mean?

give the serial number, the last two digits can be X if you feel better doing it that way!

Prior to carrying it, you should crack open the side plate, clean the innerds, and add a drop or two of oil as necessary.

The 60's a great wheelgun. And do follow Mc5aw's advice and give it some lubrication before you start popping away with it.
It's probably really dry since it's not be shot much.

Marcas Registradas seems to be a recurring set up for a punchline here at the S&W forum! I think it's Spanish for trademark or something, since most of the New World is Spanish speaking, and S&W exported enough guns to warrant a bilingual notation. Earlier guns didn't have it. I think they started putting it on their guns in the 1940's...or maybe '30's? I'm too lazy to open my Standard Catalog, a good thing to ownif you're interested in this stuff. Best wishes.

I have a Model 60 that is from 1970 I bought a few years ago. It was my first Smith & wesson revolver and now I have five. It came with box and docs, cleaning kit and a Bianchi holster. It has all the markings you have described. It does fit into the rotation from time to time, it's one of my favorites and one I'll pass on to my grandson.

It's not Spanish, it's Latin for a "registered trademark". And, it's universally recognized globally as such. And,....not just on Smith & Wesson products.
