If you're asking about the date of manufacture, the dealer is correct.

Since you are quoting a price for your new-to-you Model 60 in Euros, I will assume this transaction took place somewhere in Europe. It's kind of hard to comment on how good of a deal it was without knowing which country and having an idea of gun prices there versus here in the US. In fact prices vary widely across the US. That said, any Model 60 for sale here at that price would be considered a bargain, and from the serial number, that is an older one, which most of us consider a plus. It would appear that you did very well for yourself.

The euro, as far as I can tell, is the same exchange rate no matter what country. Currently $1.13. That would make that gun a real steal! Correct me if I'm wrong though.
....yes it looks like, but isn't so - in Europe we have many different law's of "sh.." that take's the price down. Often it takes a long time to get a licence to update from 2 up to 4 guns.

The model 60 isn't much expensive here in Austria, you can get it for $130-150 this one was sold for $130 barely used from 1977.

Welcome! Here in the USA quality used Smith & Wesson revolvers tend to go up in value, somewhat driven by demand and by the prices of similar new guns. Your situation seems to be like the prices of used cars here.

Always glad to "chat" with S&W enthusiasts from other countries. It helps us see what values are doing elsewhere and maybe predict our own somewhat (and it's just fun!
) The prices you are seeing in Austria are considerably lower than we see here... about half or less, in fact. Do you think this may be due to the difficulty and expense of getting proper licenses causing a lowering of interest, or are other firearms more popular?Froggie
