A while back I bought a Model 610-3. I noticed at the range that the single action trigger pull was kind of light. I got out an set of USMC Armorer's Trigger Pull Weights. The single action is breaking at 2 pounds and the double action breaks at 10 pounds. Is this the norm for these or has someone "adjusted" the trigger pull? I am betting on the latter.

I'm assuming this is a used gun, meaning that "someone" was a buyer and not a Smith worker who decided to apply non-factory standards to a new gun.

Two lbs SA isn't out of line for factory, especially after a little use. But 10 lbs DA is light. Is the mainspring factory or aftermarket, and is the strain screw original length and fully turned in?

Will check the strain screw later today. Yes, it was a used gun.

10lb DA

To achieve a 10lb DA pull the previous owner probably changed, or shortened, the trigger return spring! As stated above, if you do not have hammer push off, enjoy your new gun! All my gaming revolvers have triggers that are comparable to yours!

Sounds like a good trigger, unless you are having misfires, why mess with it. My 610 was in the 6 lb range SA, until I had it worked on to achieve a 3 lb . I had to replace the frame mounted firing pin with a longer one for reliable ignition. I sold it later, and regret it, I see the new owner occasionally, and he refuses to sell it back.

Pulled the grips. The strain screw is screwed all the way in and very tight. See pictures, please.

Also what is the small square etching? on the heel of the grip? Never seen that before.

No, it tells information about the gun, as it came from the factory. I don't know what all information is on there, but things like you would find on the end of the box label. Model #, barrel length, SKU#, etc.

I have a PPC revolver that was smithed by Austin Behlert. It is a DAO revolver and the trigger pull is 8 pounds. Will try the 610 in DA at the range.

Just to keep me humble...........

A friend that I shoot with tells me that when I shoot like this it just to keep me humble! Note the impact in the 8 Ring at 6 o'clock.

Jim,

I was just wondering if anyone else has a 610 with a trigger like this one that I have. I am partial to light triggers. Not a duty gun, just use it for target.

For someone partial to light triggers, I have a DA only drop in hammer kit that will make the DA pull get lighter as it goes back. These are for the newer, firing pin in the frame guns. You can check it out on Welcome to RevUp Action™! - RevUp Actionâ"¢. It works best with Federal primers, Winchester is 2nd choice.

My friend that shoots with me has a 610-3 also. He checked his with a Wheeler electronic trigger pull gage. His SA pull is 3.4 pounds and his DA pull is 10.2 pounds. He thinks my trigger is better than his. So, I will keep shooting it and see if it wears in any more.

Increase trigger pull

A quick fix to a light trigger pull, if you are having FTF, is to remove the anvil from a spent primer and insert the cup over the end of the main spring screw.
