I am wanting to get moon clips (at least 50) for a newly acquired 610. I tried the RIMZ clips that came with the gun and liked the ease of loading but have found metal ones at less than half their price. Was wondering if anyone has had any real issues w/the metal ones. I use moonclips in a 625 & 627, the 8 shot requires alot more attention to brand of brass.

I use metal full moon clips exclusively with my 610. No problems loading or unloading ammo with them. I will try to find which brand they were and post it here.

The make is Scherer.

I use the Ranch Products steel moonclips in my 610, 646, 686, 627 and 625. The 610 size sell for $75 per 100 and can be ordered by calling the number on the Ranch Products website.

I would suggest purchasing the Ranch Products moon clips. They are the same clip sold in the S&W web store at a much lower price. One big plus for these clips is that they are easy to load and unload by hand. As for why, there is a splitting cut in each "finger", so when the clip has 5 round loaded there is still some spacing to allow the fingers to flex for the 6th round.

I agree with scooter123 here. My 610 came with the split clips and they are the same as the Ranch Products clips. The ones without the split work fine, though they are much more difficult to load and unload,

I went with 1 piece as I was using the 610 as my bowling pin gun. Was much quicker to load and unload quickly.

Thanks for all the input Fella's.Will be ordering some in th AM. I'm really looking forward to running some rounds through this gun. Waited a long time to find one.

never had a problem with the solid metal clips except once in awhile one will get a little bent and the cylinder won't turn freely. it happens. i would load em and drop em in the cylinder and make sure it turns.
