I'm new here so Please bear with me on learning, I have a model 610 Classic Ser # BFAxxxx. I have a Smith collector wanting it pretty bad and he's making hard to resist offers. My question to whomever is are these that sought after?? Thank You in advance

they are sought after for sure, what kind of offers is he making?

There were two or three 'runs' of the 610 but not in quite a few years.
In excellent or better condition, especially with the box and paperwork, they'd go for over $1000 on GunBroker!

WELL over. For pre-lock 610s w/o box you're looking at $15-1600 and with box you're into $2000+.

If he's a buddy then make up your own fair price but otherwise a hard to resist offer from some collector shouldn't be anything less than you could easily get for it on GB.

Here's some food for thought:
NOS NIB S&W 610-2 Unfluted 6.5in 10mm .40 SW : Revolvers at GunBroker.com
Smith & Wesson Model 610 : Revolvers at GunBroker.com
S&W 610 No Dash 5 inch 10mm .40 SW Excellent : Revolvers at GunBroker.com

Welcome to the Forum

The few small runs of the 310/610 family of revolvers along with the growing enthusiasm with the 10MM Auto cartridge over the past 5+ years has put these fine wheelguns into an almost Cult status. As others have said, clean versions bring prices that continue to surprise us month after month

It's an older 6-1/2" with box. He's offering several guns which equal around 1200. I couldn't find any prelocks on GB that's why i'm asking the Group

That offer is in his favor, not yours. If you want the guns he is offering, ask for $400/500 to boot. If you don't especially want his guns....pass. Just my humble opinion. ............

I Think I could get 1500++ for it On Gunbroker if All Original with Combats and in matching Box.

If he's offering trade make sure you can get the above amount within a week. Or better yet if you want the revolvers he's offering for you personally. I usually don't trade unless I have to have it or I can make it "Liquid" with a phone Call.

I was reluctant to say anything but now i know it's value i think i'll just keep it, i don't know how to post a picture but it's the older cardboard box. Thanks to everyone who shined some light on this and may have saved me from making a bad deal. BTW i payed $500.00 for it about 6 years ago.

I wouldn't ask any less than $1500+ cash, unless his guns are something you really want. You're definitely in the driver's seat

That was a good idea to check in with people who are up to speed on S&W prices. A few months ago a 4" 610-3 (w. lock) sold on GB with a "buy it now" bid of $2000. Amazing, and shocking at the time.

Great gun...shoot it, enjoy it.

I hunted around for a pre-lock 610 for a while and thought that i'd have to swallow the bitter price pill to get one, but i lucked out on a 4" -2 through trade. It's a keeper!

I acquired my 'holy grail' gun today. A 6.5" unfluted.

I saw it a month ago at the Berea Ohio show, first 610 I ever saw in person. Had a price of $2100 on it. When I saw him at another show,he told me someone offered $1500 and told the offerer that he'd have to do better than that. Next show I saw him he said he was going to accept that $1500 offer from him. I told him that If I knew $1500 was gonna be accepted,I would have pulled the funds out. I only had $600 on me as I was in the market for a 4013,4014,4053,or 4054 for conversion from 40S&W to 10mm. He said put $100 down and I could buy it next week at the next Berea show. Acquired it today.

Good job. I was pissed when the 610 was dropped from the California roster because I have the wants for one. Now I have to search and do a private party transfer, if I can find one.

First 50 shots out of mine, offhand at 15 yrds. One flyer was from a dry barrel.

My set.

You description of the deal sounds poor in my opinion. I would not consider selling mine for less than $2000. Even then I would have to contemplate it because they are not easily replaced and they are extremely accurate guns!

I agree with Peter Eick, $2000 is a relative 'base-price' for a prime specimen with original box, and papers. I bought my 'Lew Horton' new at my LGS, and the clerk said, "That'll make a nice paper-weight." So who's laughing now! IIRC the purchase price was under $800 USD at the time. I picked-up a 3 7/8" bbl. lock-version when they last came-out. Here's my two:

I hate to say I have regretted all of the 610's I sold or passed on. They have turned out to be a real profitable model for the believers. The reason is that most of us 10mm fans flat out refuse to sell them now. Way too hard to replace!
