Good evening from NW Wisconsin!
I would like to know about when this revolver was manufactured. As noted above, it is a 629-3, 6" barrel, full underlug, serial number BNP 4051. The barrel is marked "629 Classic" on the right hand side, left side is "Smith & Wesson" (left side of barrel, "44 Magnum" on left side underlug. Grips are Hogue "Monogrip". Thanks very much!

Looks to be around February or March of 1993. Most probably in March. SCSW has February labeled with "BMB" and March with "BNW" and your serial falls between those 2.

I just bought a 6 1/2" Classic 629-3 a few weeks ago. It's serial number corresponds with December 1993 to January 1994. It is a sweet shooting pistol; I'm already in love with it. :)

I have one BNP in my s/n collection and it shipped October 15, 1992. M629 Classics from this era had the letters "PM" on the end label under Stocks. Originally, this stood for Pachmayr grips, but eventually I think Smith used the PM code to denote any neoprene grip, so it's possible the Hogues are factory.

Wow Kernel, looks like just guessing at them if they aren't specifically listed in the SCSW can be a bit off.

muddocktor, I found that a lot of the SCSW dates were off by 6 months or more when compared to the ship dates of product in circulation. That's one of the reasons I started my own data base. It's not perfect, far from it, but at least it's based on real special order numbers seen on actual boxes.

That is great, Kernel.

I guess I should post up the serial and stuff off the box in the sticky thread at top to check what you have in your database on my newest acquisition, which is also a 629-3.

BTW Sharps74, please post up some pics of your 629. We love pics here! :D
