I bought a 63-5 J frame .22lr revolver a few months ago and really enjoy it, except for the fiber optic front sight. It's pinned in and I see other J frames with simple ramp front sights, so I am wondering if I could switch out the front sight? Also, if the switch was doable, would it void the warranty on the revolver?

Thanks.

Give the fiber optic sight a chance.
I didn't like it at first, but do now on my 63-5.

Thanks for the responses. My main problem with the fiber optic is my astigmatism. I tend to see two red dots butted together in sort of a lopsided figure 8 formation. Fiber optic front site on a rifle isn't as bad.

Thanks!

According to S&W they will sell you a front sight, but the hole is in the wrong place and will have to be redrilled.

Replacing the rear sight, which several users here have done, is not a walk in the park either.

I've learned to love the fiber optic on my 63 and 317.
