Model 63 Cylinder

The cylinder on my Model 63 will no longer close. I have had trouble opening and closing the cylinder for a while. Had just shot it and was cleaning it and the extractor rod is now too long and blocks the cylinder from closing. Looking at the diagram for the extractor parts I see an extractor spring. Could the spring have stretched? May need more extractor parts. Not the original owner but should I send the revolver back to S&W for repair and get original factory parts? Don't mind paying Smith to have it done right.

The very first thing to check is whether the extractor rod is fully screwed in.
