Looking at one early '80's. Still a pinned model. .22 caliber, Stainless 4", original grips, Red Ramp, standard black rear sight, No target hammer and No target trigger, one family, box, tools, most papers. It's been fired and used lightly, but certainly not abused, grips look good. Unfortunately another one of those guns inherited and being turned, but possibly good for me - IF the price is in the right area.

Not a face to face transaction either, but...

Thoughts on value?

Ok, I am in that ballpark.

These Smith's just seem to bring too much $.

If I do it I'm sure it will be worth it in the long run.

Thanks Bama...

I paid $650 a few months back for one that is close to one you are talking about. I love it, and will always keep it, but I think a more realistic price should have been $550-$600 range, the guy would not budge and I always wanted one so I paid a bit too much for her I think......

About six months ago, I bought a pristine 63 4" pinned and recessed in near perfect condition, but no box or docs and I paid $500 from a pawn shop and smiled all the way out the door. :D The last three or four gunshows I've been to, nary saw a one for sale. They don't come around often and when they do, them that gets 'em, keeps 'em!:)

I've been looking around and see one chap suggesting some of the old ones had some galling problems with the stainless - any truth to this?

He has not responded back to my last email.
