Model 63

I don't own any 22lr guns and found a good shape model 63 at the LGS can anyone tell me anything about it? Value?

I just bought one, no box,papers etc. but in very good shape for just over $600.00.thought I had bought a dud (see the thread I started)but a good cleaning and I was good to go.before I purchased I looked at gunbroker finished auctions and they go higher than that and more for box,etc. NIB go for more.they are scarce around here,so I didn't hesitate when I saw mine. In spite of having a perfectly good 617 I'm enjoying the revolver.

They are great little guns and are fun to shoot. Just be sure to take a cleaning brush with you to the range as they tend to foul enough after 50 rounds and makes the cases hard to eject. This is due to tight manufacturing tolerances and not an issue to me. I had to put bigger grips on mine.
Depends on condition and location but I ended up paying $400 for mine w/o box.

It depends on the condition, vintage and barrel length (a 2" goes for a lot more than a 4", etc.), but a standard 4" is about $500 in good condition right now. It is a little J frame revolver but you may still be freakin' over it .

I traded into one a couple of years ago. It's my girlfriend's favorite gun by far. Mine's not pinned, and is not an "M" serial prefix, but it shoots like a dream. I've probably got $400 or so in it, and wouldn't take that back for it on it's worst day.

These can be found cheaper if you buy one that has been thrown from a moving vehicle, like mine was. Note the asphalt in the gouges. I bought it for the cylinder, intending to have it fitted to my S&W 650. After my youngest brother died of a heart attack in 2010, I was severely depressed and sent this back to the factory and asked if it could be repaired.

Indeed they could repair it. Six to eight weeks and a few bucks short of $125.00 I got this 63 back, in full working condition with all the scuffs, dents, and dings removed.

If it's a new model with the lock, the 4 & 5 hundred dollar estimates of value would be in line, but around the mid-south a Mod 63 in high condition will bring $600 any day.

I've seen two NIB four inch 63's bring 7 at gunshows this year.

I love the model 63s and have owned several over the years. I always give in to that old buy/sell/trade routine, I have one left that I would not sell for less than 550.00 + shipping.

I am not up on pricing, but I have a 4" 63, box and all contents, and think it is a great revolver.

My model 63 with Fuzzy Farant grips. Wonderful little .22. If memory serves I bought the gun, new, sometime in the mid 1970s.

My wife's favorite and a pleasure to shoot. I do carry Q-tips and solvent with me to the range as the chambers generally need a cleaning every couple of dozen rounds if I want easy extraction. That's somewhat ammo dependent.

A kit gun is one that is used to carry with you when engaged in some other type of activity. Something akin to a survival pack. It could also be called a tackle box gun. But no, it doesn't mean it was put together from a kit.
