Not sure if I'm in the right section or not but I have a question about my new to me purchase.
Picked up a S&W 63 the other day. I was hoping someone here could help me with getting a year of production.

Serial number is: M220xxx

Looks like 1983 to me.

It falls in the 1983 range and probably shipped that year.

It is okay that you posted in this section of the Forum because there is no significant difference in the stainless Kit Gun between 1980 and 1982. It would have been fine to park it in the 1980 and above category, but most of the users here are fond of the Kit Guns and you will get good responses here.

TY for the info. Found this little gun in a LGS while I was looking for something else. Price seemed OK to me after checking on line sites.
They had a 34 there also but the 63 came with the original box, oversized grips and a set of smaller aftermarket grips.
Not a fan of the stainless but for only 30 grapes more I went with the 63.
