Folks,
I just received a 639 from Sqidsix. It came with three factory mags that hold 8 rounds each. Looking at auction and eBay ads, I see a bunch of them, some in s&w packaging for a third gen gun, stating 9 round capacity. Do these work like the Wilson 10 rounders for my Colt 1911 9mm? If they will work in the 639, I'll get a few.
Thank you for providing your knowledge :D

Smith & Wesson #190580000 is the currently produced magazine for the 639 but will stick out the bottom of the grip slightly.

Yep, like jsbethel said.

Here's a couple of pics to so the reveal.

Original ones are out there and can be had in excellent condition for "not that much" if that's what you want.

Unfortunately, S&W no longer makes the magazine floorplate that closed the gap.

If you look hard enough and are willing to pay a premium, you may find some stainless steel Model 639 magazines. The more common, blued, Model 39/39-2/439/539 magazines are easier to find.

Decades ago when I had a Model 39-2 I was able to get a pair of Model 639 magazines dirt cheap from the used magazine box at a gun shop. I let go of those magazines when I sold that Model 39-2. Now I wish I had not let them go. Back then they were in good supply, now they are not. Oh, well, hindsight.

Anyone have any experience with the 8rnd repro magazine from Numrich? Part #192920.

The numrich ones look identical to the S&W ones but I have yet to try one. I have been looking for someone with them to do a side-to-side comparo
