I am new to the forum and hope I am placing this in the correct forum.I recently purchased a model 649 .357 w/ 2 1/8" barrel. I have searched this forum and many holster makers on the internet without any luck. I am trying to find a leather pancake OWB holster for this J frame. Galco doesn't even list this model nor do several other holster makers. Can someone please offer some suggestions. I had no idea it would be this hard to find a holster for this gun. Oh, and I'm trying to find something around $75 or less. I don't want to spend $150 for a holster.

Look for a holster for a 640. Same frame and barrel. The only real difference is the rear of the frame where the 649 has the "hump". The 640 is more common so you should probably have a wider selection of holsters listed for it.

This is Bell Charter Oak's "Half Breed" I use it frequently for my 640-1 Centennial Magnums which have the same general frame and barrel profile as your 649 Bodyguard Magnum.

They are not terribly expensive as far as high end leather goes.....less than your $75 budget number.

I like the design so much that I ordered one for the Smith 9's I carry too.

On top of that, Lefty Lewis, the owner of Bell Charter Oak is a fellow forumite and advertises here. I like his leather and I bet you will too...

Well thank you Drew;

These "slides" such as the HALF BREED models you so graciously show, are consumately effective concealment rigs and extremely fast to draw from with good retention. Alternatively, our full size pancake scabbards provide a high ride and full weapon cover, such as the DEMON pictured below. Personally, the HALF BREED is the fastest drawing and most compact design, but some guys prefer the full weapon coverage the DEMON offers. Pictured with Ruger LCR.

We craft these for most all small revolvers from S&W, Colt, Charter Arms and Taurus.

Cheers;
Lefty

I notice on the half breed that the barrel protrudes throught the bottom of the holster. Does this cause any problems with the front Sight hanging on the holster when drawing the gun?

I have been carrying one of Lefty's holsters and can tell you it is great. The model that is my favorite is The Vice Versa, works left or right ,cross draw , forward tilt , or st. up. Best buy on the market. Joe.
