OK... I dropped my Model 65 in 4" police trade in gun off to have some work done on it. First is a bead blast. Next is a tune up kit.

Finally I am wanting to have the front sight replaced with a gold bead. Any opinions? Any advice on other things to do while I've got this gun in the shop? Any advice on the sights are welcome too.

My goal is to end up with very very good true fighting/carry gun.

If you're going with a gold bead I would think that would require a patridge front sight. Patridge sights are more inclined to hang up on holsters, but I'm not sure that you're intent was for SD carry or what.

It should be very low profile. Almost like a shotgun sight. I'm not completely convinced yet and I have time to change my mind. But I like the idea.

Novak front sight for a 3913 you will need a dovetail.

Sheck out SDM machine, they make gold bead front sights for many applications.

Please post some pictures of it when you get it back! I love the bead blast finish on SS.

I haven't had mine beadblasted, although lately I've had the urge to do so.

Its a 65-3, 3" - it had a great trigger when I bought it about 2 years ago, but the front sight was tough to pick up so I had a gunsmith cut in an orange insert in the front sight - it's hard to get them as noticable as with the 66s, since the sight it lower, but it helps a lot IMO. I also had a light chamfer done on the cylinders to help with extraction.

Cheers,

Rhino
