Model 65 Pinned and recessed

I am looking at a model 65 that is both pinned and recessed and has what I believe to be PD markings on the backstrap. They are THP-R and then a number{not serial #}. Does anyone recognize the markings/dept.? Thanks in advance, Joe.

Not sure but a guess would be Tennessee Highway Patrol maybe.

I own a Model 65-2 that is also marked. LCSD. At the time I bought it, the gun shop told me it was from a county sherrif's department up in S. Carolina. I guess alot of Law Enforcement agencies liked the Model 65. This has the smoothest trigger of all my Smiths.

I have a 65-2 4". It remains my favorite handgun. I'm sure you'll like yours a lot.
