model 65 w/ serrated fore and backstrap

I recently got a model 65-5 that I believe to be one made in 95/96 according to Standard Catalog of S. & W. page228. It has a BSJ prefix to serial number, serrated fore and backstrap, case hardened trigger and hammer, and stepped front sight. Does anyone know how many of these were made and if they sell for more than a standard 3 inch model 65 ? I am unable to post pictures at this time. In other words the grandkids aren't here to do it for me.

I had a Model 64 that I sent back to the factory, break while they were working on it. They sent me a Model 64 with round butt and serrations. I think they had Model 66 frames to get rid of at that time (97-98)

That would explain the serrated frame, and possibly the barrel with stepped front sight, but what about the case hardened hammer and trigger ?

That sounds like my 65-5. It has a BSP prefix with everything else you listed.

My BSP has the same features also. IIRC the SCSW said they were run for about 8 months with the serrated frame.

The early stainless guns had case-hardened hammers and triggers intermittently. I have seen model 60s and 66s from the factory with these parts, and now all the stainless revolvers have the MIM case-colored parts.

My 65-5 Lady Smith has serrated fore & backstrap. It also has case colored MIM parts.
