Hi all,
I purchased a S&W Model 651-1, NIB from a small gun/pawn shop of Hyw 40 out in the Ocala National Forest near Ocala, FL back in August 21, 1991.

I love this weapon.

I even purchaced the Hogue J Frame Square Butt, Goncalo Alves grip with Stripe/End Cap. (Looks and feels Great!)

I have the original Grip from S&W and the original box.

My issue: (Not a big one) The Serial # is "BKC0093"

The Product Code is: 103902

I just received my new 3rd Edition STandard Catalog of Smith & Wesson (I love it too!) but my serial number is not listed.

The three letters "BKC" in the SN# are not in the list of Serial Number ranges on page 400.

From the discussion on this weapon, It appears that my weapon was from the end of the first production run (1988) and I think it has the "New Yoke Retention System" as there is a "016" roughly engraved just below the Model #651-1 on the Yoke.

The rear sight is adjustable, but does not have the "WO" or white outline. It has a "RR" or Red Ramp sight and a smooth medium size target trigger.

My Questions:

1. What is the DOB/year of my 651-1?
(SN# BKC0093) Is this a low SN#?

2. What is a "New Yoke Retention System" (1988) and does the "016" etched to the inside of the yoke have any reference to the New Yoke Retention System?

3. The S&W Book references the "Reintroduction" of the 1/8" sight in 1992....what is a 1/8" sight?

Why is my rear sight without a "White Line"?

Looking for some advice from you professionals...

Welcome to the forum. BKC would appear to be 1991, but the spec ord code on the end label will tell the story (it's a Julian type date code). What is it? 016 is an assembly number and is not related to revision.
1/8" is the width of the blade.
