Just curious, I have the opportunity to purchase a model 66-1 with a 2 1/2 inch barrel it's in great shape and has the hogue grips but no box. Does anyone know what a fair value would be?
Thanks!!

Grips are not original but a -1 should be pinned and recessed. i would be a buyer at $600. may be worth closer to $700 though.

it is pinned and recessed, thats a bummer, I thought the hogue grips were original.

if you feel the price is right dont let the grips keep you from buying it. you can easily buy a set of period correct grips here or on ebay. probably for less than $50.

Not a bummer: great gun, the original grips (magnas) frankly aren't all that great, and now you have a bargaining chip. ;)

Don't know what "great shape" means to you, but if it's an NRA "very good" to "excellent", $600 give or take is a good price.

he is asking $650, thanks guys I think he is a little high.

Offer $600.
They are skyrocketing in price right now.
I have a 2 1/2" M66-1 and it is my favorite K-Frame to carry.

I sold this S&W 66-2 on St. Patrick's Day for $650.00. No box, papers, but included a RH Bianchi Shadow 8L holster.

Why do you think the pinned and recessed features are a bummer? Most collectors will pay a premium for a P. & R. revolver. Factory grips should be magnas. I paid a little less than $600.00 for my 2 1/2" M 66-1 about a year ago.

Buy it!

Where I live (Vermont) there is a lack of S&W revolvers in gun shops, and so I never hesitate or waver over 50-75 bucks in price......

They will not go DOWN in price, so if you ever want to sell....you can.

Bought this 66-2 (without the stag grips) last month for $500 OTD. Not likely to find another 2.5 inch for that price though. Great gun, buy the one you're looking at. . . prices on these won't be going down.

I've been hitting three different shops regularly. Not one used S&W has come into any of these 3 shops in just about a month. Guns are scarce. My neck of the woods it would be priced at $800. If you like it and it checks out pay the price and be happy. A great gun.

That is a good price in my area for a -1, 2.5". It's not worth losing over $50. If the prices keep going up at the present rate, in a year or two it will be worth quite a bit more.

I'm sorry, yes I was referring to the grips not being original. I think the pinned and recessed models are great.

I bought the same gun for $680 a couple years ago with Pachmyers and a few marks on it. The P&R versions are very hard to find.

BUY IT. You won't care about $25 after you get it, if it's still there...
