Model 66-1

I traded for this 66-1 serial 45K37XX yesterday. Polished with Mothers to buff out light handling marks. I am guessing mid to late 1980 early 1981 shipping. The grips are John Hurst that I had on hand.

In the world of Model 66s, you just can’t, IMHO, do any better than a 66-1. Looks like you’ve got a good example of the model, nice enough to look good, but worn enough that you don’t mind shooting it. The Hurst grips just finish it off with a flair. Congratulations.

Here's my 66-1 shipped Sept 5th 1980 to North West Law Enforcement in Oregon City, OR. My brother purchased it new and carried it his first 10 years in law enforcement.

That's a very nice 66-1.




When I got mine from my brother it was wearing Hogue Monogrips.



I had a pair of smooth combat grips so I tried them out.
I really liked them.



The gun was originally shipped with Target Stocks and I never did find them so I took these Target Stocks off of a 68-2 CHP before I sold it.

I think they are perfect for the gun both having served in LE.

For me it’s because it’s the last of the p&r. I know the transition to red ramp front/black rear sights happened during the “no dash” guns but they seem harder to find.

As I’ve been selling off some items the -1 66 4” is the one I miss the most.
