I'm considering selling my revolver. It is in excellent condition, no box. Identifying numbers are AAU6411, mod 66-2, E3 S 95146. Any response on its present value would be appreciated.

You have a 1982 era of a popular gun. There were zillions of 66's made and I would suspect the 4" far out numbered other barrel lengths due to their popularity with law enforcement. I would expect an average price would be around $400. If you can prove it was not a LEO trade-in then you may get more.

I bought these two 66-2s over the past four months on GunBroker - I paid $450 for the 4" and $432 for the 6". Both are in truly like-new condition. The 4" has the red ramp/white-outline sight package along with a target hammer and trigger; the 6" had only the red ramp front sight but I've since added a white-outline blade and a target hammer and trigger.
I consider those to have been good buys as I often see nice 66s bring 686 money - $500+.

2 66-2's sold Sunday on Gunbroker.....i messed up and forgot about them....one sold for $399 and the other $432 or so....and they both had target hammer, trigger, and grips......still sick about it...

I have a small fleet of 686s but for putting target loads with wadcutters or SWCs downrange, I much prefer my Model 66s.
Back in the mid-70s, I bought my first new revolver, a 4" Model 19 with target trigger and hammer. I fired thousands of HBWCs out of that thing and it was very accurate. I went to my club's 25-yard indoor range two or three evenings each week with a box of 50 target loads and my goal was to put all 50 rounds into the black of a standard 25-yard pistol target off-hand. As I recall, I managed to do that three times; usually, I had one to six out of the black.
Today, my eyes don't work nearly as well and I struggle to only have six out of the black from a sandbagged rest! But I'm only just getting back into handgun shooting after about a 20-year layoff and haven't tried off-hand shooting yet.
Just don't feed any K-frame a steady diet of hot magnum fodder. They won't stand up to that kind of use like an L-frame 586 or 686 will.
