John123456,

A 4 inch model 66 was the first handgun I ever bought. I carried it as a rookie PO-lice officer back in the early 80's and never had a single issue with it. It went bang every time and was more accurate than I was (we actually fired 18 rounds from the 50 yard line as part of our qualification back then). You have a great handgun there sir, hang on to it.

I have a few of them. Carried one as required back in the late 70's. Never had a problem, was pretty much accurate and a very durable gun.

Carried one concealed for a few years as late as the 90s. Would not get rid of any of my model 66 guns but chose to carry a 1911 now. Not to say the 66 is inferior or inadequate but just the S&W 1911 is my choice of carry gun.

I packed a 3" 66-2 for a few years and still pack a 19-3 snub in a SH on the motorcycle. Now full time carry a 1911 Colt Commander as I shoot it better and reloads are faster. Accuracy should be very good with that snub if you do your job. All of my K frame snubs are accurate, especially the 3". You should be able to get 4" groups or better benchrested at 25 yards on a good day. Maybe better depending on your coffee intake, shooting .38's or .357's and finding the perfect load. Darn good price for that snub.

@ Kenny, From many trips to the range 80% of most LEO's these days would not even hit their targets from 50 yards, slow fire. Our local PD only qualifies once a year and most cannot shoot for crap. It's a disgrace and disservice to them and a lawsuit waiting to happen IMO. If I was a criminal on the run would feel pretty safe with their Glock 31's rounds whizzing by me at 50 yards.
