Model 66-5 question

I recently purchased a 66-5 and noticed what appears to be a strengthening bar on the left side of the weapon behind the cyclinder. Is that what it is? I own a 66 no dash and a 66-1 and they do not have this feature. I have tried finding out what it's purpose is to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello there....I think you are talking about the cylinder stop that is now part of the frame instead of the little pressed in round stop, that your other 66's have. Keeps the cylinder from sliding to the rear and off the crane when opened. Joe
