Model 66 cylinder seating issue.

Hey all,

I bought a used M66 and other than cleaning it well I can't seem to get the (.38 rings I call them) rings of crap 2/3's the way down the cylinder to clean up.

This was just a practice gun for someone and they ony used .38's in it. Even trying to place .38's in it is a chore. A speed load works only after I manually push one or two cylinders into place, seating them.

I want to do this the best way I can and don't spending the money to hone it myself.

MLRS: Here is a method that has worked for me: Find an old aluminum cleaning rod that will take a cleaning jag for a 270/30 caliber. Cut a 1" wide strip about 3" long from the end of a pad of 0000 steel wool. Swab the cylinder liberally with your choice of lead remover. Let it soak. Cut the aluminum cleaning rod end to about 6" long. Chuck it into your variable speed 1/4" or 3/8" drill motor. Mount the cylinder in a padded bench vise. Wrap the steel wool around the jag. Try it for fit in the cylinder chamber. Recut the steel wool until you get the fit you need. You want it to be snug not overly tight. Apply Kroil penetrating oil to the steel wool swab. Place in first chamber and SLOWLY rotate the swab with the drill motor for about 1 minute. Gently move the swab in and out in that one minute. Re oil and do the next chamber. After all six have been done one time clean and inspect the cylinder chambers. More than likely you're finished. If not repeat until you get the results you want. You will not damage the cylinder chamber walls doing this.
