I just grabbed one today. In very nice shape, but I always break down used revolvers to see what's going on inside. This one was reasonably clean, but still had some old grease and oil in there. I took it all apart and gave it a sonic cleaning, and it is now drying in a case dryer for my brass to make sure it is fully dry. I'm not sure of the year of this, but I'd estimate mid 1970's. When I took the cylinder apart and placed it into the sonic cleaner, I saw a little washer in the cleaner that I have never seen before. I am guessing this is the gas ring. Am I wrong? It's just a little circle of metal. Is there a certain way to put that back in? Just drop it into the cylinder before assembling everything else? Does it need to be placed a certain side up? I don't see a difference. The serial number is 1D72890. Thanks.
