I just picked up a Model 66 no dash, pinned, recessed, red ramp, white outline rear, and smooth target trigger. I should get it in about a week. Hopefully before going to Tulsa so I can get it to the range before I go. I hate to leave a new gun setting around without putting a few rounds through it. :)

When did the logo get moved from the side plate?

I just picked up my new/used M66. I have looked it over and the trigger is great, lockup is great, cylinder play is almost non-existent, crane/frame gap...none, and it is the first used handgun I have bought that actually is clean. I did a cursory cleaning and other than the front of the cylinder, not a speck of dirt anywhere. :)

It does have the funny looking ampersand on the left side, almost like a scriped backwards 3. I had never noticed/seen that before. My 66-3 has a standard ampersand. snw19_357 noticed it in the auction photo.

The first four numbers/digits in the serial number are: 6K83

Pic's tomorrow.

I am not good at these digital camera's but here they are. I cleaned up real well. I buffed out one spot just under the latch. Other than that it is great.

The ampersand on the left side of the barrel looks like a backwards 3 instead of the &.

David.

I just realized this is probably in the wrong forum. Sorry guys.

Congrats! I had my finger on the "submit bid" button for that snubby at the end of that auction, but got cold feet since I just won a 63 a bit over a week ago. The wife would have had me on the couch for a month if I would have won it.

Looks like you got a nice 66 for a good price.

edit: I would say you got it in the correct forum

I have the exact gun on my belt as I type. You're going to love it. It's the perfect carry gun.

Congrats on the Combat Magnum  I love my no-dash M66...it's my #1 belt gun. Yours should polish up nice, should you choose to do so ;)

I already have a M66-3 with a 2 1/2 inch barrel. It is MagnaPorted and has the muzzle cut like a funnel, trigger job, and polished hammer/trigger. I believe that is a custom option from MagnaPort. I will get a couple of pic's for you.

I just felt that the 66-3 needed a companion and I wanted a pinned/recessed because I used to have one and foolishly traded it away.

My next purchase will be a 66 or 19 2 1/2. That's a nice gun! I have a 4" 66 that I've sort of rediscovered in the last couple of weeks. It has the smoothest double action trigger I've ever experienced.

I absolutely love my M66 4", it's the first hand gun I purchased and my son has requested I specify it to him in the will. It's just so much fun to shoot that thing. Congratulations, you bought a nice weapon.

What Robinett_11B said. I have mine set up with S&W wood grips and a Tyler T-Grip exactly the same. Mine came with rubber grips but I shoot it much better with wood!

You're going to like that 66-no dash. Mine is a favorite carry gun. The accuracy of the 2.5" K-frame .357's is amazing.

My 66 no dash 4" came with Hogue grips, but I have a pair of wood grips from a 67 no dash I purchased years ago and replaced with Pachmyers. Why do you think you shoot better with the wood grips? What is the usual experience with this?

Very nice gun. I purchased a 19-3 2 1/2 today, thought that I'd done something unique, and now I'm seeing all of these threads about newly purchased 2 1/2" Combat Magnums. Way cool.

When did the logo get moved from the side plate?
On a Combat Magnum (Stainless), 1982.
There were also a considerable number of commemorative models made prior to this and the frames made for but left over from these also had the trademark on the left.

I think it is a simple fact of proper fit for my hand.
