I was also watching that one. Good for you, bad for me, because I already committed to another gun, and just didn't have the cash for both. Congratulations on a great gun at a darn good price.
 
I understand that the logo is on the other side, I am just wondering when S&W made the move from the sideplate to the latch side of the firearm. :)

Without looking it up in the book I noticed my S&W's made between 1938 and 1980 have the logo on the right side .

Before and after that looks like the left.
 
It is to reduce the muzzel jump/flip...one thing I can say for sure is the muzzel blast increases dramaticly...wow.
