Model 66 No Dash

So I picked up a Model 66
Super clean. Tight.
Pinned barrel, recessed chambers.
Manufacture date 1976 I believe.
Even has bookend grips.
Purchase is a done deal.
What should I have paid?

I see them more frequently in the $600-700 range....sometimes I will see one scuffed up in the 500-575 range...

Ordered a new holster and grips for the Model 66 identical to these on my N-frame 629. Kind of a little brother thing.

Paid $600 about a year ago and thought it was a decent deal. Not many come up around here and most that do were used hard.

A pristine 66 like you just acquired should run in the $600 to 700 range by today’s standards which seems fair given the small number of precision made revolvers available for purchase. When I look at the offering today by S&W on say a model 19 and compare the final product ( shrouded barrel, extra 1/4 length to appease Canada, poor finish compared to yesterday’s product, etc.) with one sold in the seventies I will take the older pistol each time. Many of the firearms in the photo I actually carried during my 30 years in LE.
