Model 66 P&R

I have an opportunity to buy a P&R Model 66 with the box. Gun has target stocks and has not been shot very much. Gun is in excellent shape. What would be a fair price for the gun? I have seen prices all over the place. The barrel is a 4 inch.

Well if it's a pinned barrel it a no dash or a -1.
I paid $495 OTD for a 4" no dash in January with SS rear sights from 1972. No box or papers and it had Goodyears. I had the correct target stocks I added.
So $500 would be an excellent price. $600 would be a good price.

I bought a Model 66 (no dash) last week for $650.00. It's a very sweet revolver.

I picked up the gun today. It is a no dash with stainless sights and the large S&W logo. It is mint with box, tools and papers. I may have overpaid a little, not sure, but I have not ran across one of these before around here. I will try to post some pics.

Last winter I traded a 95+% pinned model 60 I had paid $400.00 for in 2001 and $100.00 boot for a 66 no dash, blued rear sight and red ramp. No box, no tools. The 66 was like new as far as finish was concerned but had a DA carry up failure on two chambers. I was hoping I could put another standard hand in it to fix the carryup issue but it didn't. I didn't want to file the hand slot in the frame only to have the oversize hand I had also fail to fix it, so I sent it back to the occupied territory of Mass. The 66 is now at the factory having an oversized hand installed. I also found that the rear sight had been changed out and that the blade was way to tall. The factory is also installing a new correct height rear blade. After repairs, and shipping, I'll have around $650.00 in the gun. I don't regret the trade at all, as I'd been looking for a non marred, pinned and recessed 66 for over a year. Going to carry it under my coveralls when bow hunting deer.

That is a fine no dash. I've got one with a lot more "love" than that one and it's a favorite.

All stainless, minor turn line, but still has the trigger stop and truly minimal wear as I see no wear on the trigger, which is a guide.

Box and any extras are a clear plus.

I bought a p&r 2.5 barrel 66-1 in ~95% with no box or papers last December from a retired Pennsylvania LEO for $635+30 shipping and have no remorse. I think it's an average deal. You will love your new gun!

Im in it for 700 OTD with box, tools and papers. I think it was a fair deal and I am glad I made the purchase. I also have a 66-3 2.5 inch barrel to keep it company.
