Model 67-1 on the way

I've always taken some pleasure in tearing down used guns and giving them a complete cleaning. Revolvers especially. A complete disassembly and thorough clean and oil. Something very satisfying to me bringing it back to its glory. A friend of mine inherited his cousin's 4506. It was so dirty the magazine wouldn't even drop free. He told me it was his cousins truck gun and had spent its entire life under the seat of his truck in a nylon holster he had attached to the underside of the seat. The before and after pics were startling. Looks almost new again.

Model 67 arrived today looks like a quick clean up was done . The inside and action wasn't bad swabbed it out with Hoppes9. Gun cleaned real nice and the action very smooth . Unfortunately the Target stocks were too big unable to cock the hammer with my thumb. The Magnas are new and fit just right . Cleaned up the 67 old school with Hoppes9 ,Remoil and Never Dull.

Congrats. Great revolver. My 67 no dash is one of my favorite K frames. Pure joy to shoot.

Very nice piece.

I have a no dash Model 67 that I purchased from a local gun store in 2006. It was purchased new by an auxiliary police office in 1974. I still have the 2 piece box numbered to the gun that still has the price tag for $175 attached. All of the papers, cleaning accessories and promo literature for new S&W products are still their. The gun came with a very nice pair of checkered rosewood S&W Target stocks. Unfortunately the former owner did not hang on to the numbered to the gun magnas.

Right after picking the gun up I sent it to the factory for a DA action job. As part of the action job I had the standard trigger replaced with a smooth combat target trigger. I would like to have used the original magnas with a grip adapter. I ended up reshaping and refinishing a set of smooth target stocks that came from a police gun. The stocks were a mess when I got them but they came out very nice and look right on the gun. The gun also feels right and it is very easy to shoot DA and hit with it. I also have a Model 18 from the same era a companion piece.

In my opinion the Combat Masterpiece whether blued or stainless .38 or .22 is one of the best K frames.

Enjoy your 67 they are great guns. I shoot cast bullet reloads almost exclusively in mine.

It would also be great to hear from anyone who has carried a Model 67 as a duty gun.

I've always thought that the Combat Masterpiece is the best S&W! Not too big or too small, not too heavy or too light, adequately powerful but not too much to handle, it's the near ideal combination for me. The stainless steel in the M67 makes it even better than the M15!

The special code on your box, 8201, is the Julian date of your revolver that translates to July 19, 1988.

I have an early no dash 67, but i disagree with it being better than a 15. That beautiful polished blue with dark mid 70's Brazilian rosewood smooth targets is pretty sharp:D

I agree on Model 15 , I don't need another .38 so bought a Model 18-4 supposed to be delivered Sept 1.Have a pair Walnut panels to go on it.

Finally had chance today to sight M67 at 5 yards with center hold . I made a mistake of shooting M640 first and got a little tired.

Nice model 67, indeed! Your cleanup of it was quite superb. Thanks for sharing the journey and also the quick range report.

Hope it will serve you well and give great pleasure for many years to come!

The Ahrends bought from JCM800 fit my M67 just right. They appear darker in photo, also have Ahrends on my 686
