Recently picked up a 67 made in 1980, so this would have to be a 67-1. Noticed the stamping on it. No dash and "1" is larger than other numbers.
Is this common? I had never seen one like this.

My OSHP-issued 681 marked "686-1", with a "1" struck over the second "6". AUV prefix.
Restrikes & overstrikes are not that uncommon. S&W used frames on hand to complete larger orders. This one was probably pulled after stamping but before adjustable rear sight recess was milled.

I have seen overstamps and misstamps but I found this one odd because of no dash and "1" was so much larger

Heh. Not a big deal.... as was said, happens frequently.
So no, it's not worth more because there's an error. I learned early-on in my Forum education that guns aren't like stamps - no premium for mistakes. :D
