Did the original stainless rear sight on Model 67's (early 1970's) have an "S" stamped on the underside? Did blued rear revolver sights have markings? Thanks in advance for any help.

I have two of those rear sights and both of them have an "S" stamped on the underside of the tang.

I have never seen a marking on the "blued" rear sight variants, but I am not be familiar with the sight bodies older than around 1970.

Thank you armorer951. I have a blued sight body with an S stamping and wondered if it was a stainless sight that had been blued. Perhaps someone else can help with that piece of the question.

Looking through my stash of sight bases I did find one "blue" variant that appears to have originally been on a K series revolver that has an "S" stamped on the bottom of the tang. (the other blued ones I have did not have such a marking )

Sorry, but I failed to look at the others I had prior to my prevous post.
I have no idea why a blued sight would have an "S" on it.....perhaps someone more knowledgeable will be along soon.

The 'S' stamped underneath means that it is stainless but blackened. And just while I'm here, some of the older stainless revolvers also had the 'S' stamped on the hammer/trigger and they were stainless. Later hammer/trigger were 'flash chromed'.
