I was just checking through some of the various auction sites for parts when I came across a couple of odd items. Seller has 2 stainless 6" barrels listed as S&W Model 67 barrels. One is a pinned barrel, the other is not. The profile of these barrels is definitely that of a Model 66., with the shrouded ejector rod. Both barrels are roll marked "38 S&W Special CTG". I am guessing they came off of Model 68s. Anybody have any thoughts?

The seller is kind of proud of them. If anyone wants more info on these send me a pm.

A 66 barrel will say 357 on it. I don't think they made a 6" 66 with a ramp. A 67 barrel will have an unshrouded ejector. The 68 was the only stainless 38 with a shroud.

So a 6'' stainless, shrouded barrel marked 38 Special with a ramp has to be a Model 68.

68 made 1977 to 88 so may be pinned or unpinned.

The 68 was a neat firearm, Calif CHP were issued 6” revolvers and I shot several of them finding my target loads worked just fine. They did not keep them long before transitioning to the semi auto, that test period is when a test officer with a Glock shot a fellow and said the pistol accidentally fired ( no safety blamed as I recall).
