Model 69 grips

My new S&W model 69 with a 4.25-inch barrel packs quite a wallop. Would like options on an after-market grip to take away some of the punch. Suggestions?

If you want to cover the backstrap on the gripframe, get some Pachmayr Diamond Pros.

I really like the Houge grips on my 44s. I've gotten old enough that I don't have the hand strength I once had and it makes control much better for me. I've even put them on a couple of 357s that I shoot often.

I tried a few options and like the Pachmayr compact grips the best. They do cover the backstrap.

They definitely make a difference. I'm using Herrett Jordan Troopers on my M69. I'm running my handloads that aren't nuclear by any means, but they'll (hopefully) stop a determined predator if I do my part. The grips allow for comfortable range trips, but more importantly, a repeatable/shoot able grip. They also don't hang up on my clothes either. I can't wait for them to get set up and running again, because im going to order a set for my 617. I also put the same style grips on my 625. Good luck in your search.

The Hogues in this picture were modified (removed finger groves and rounded butt) with a Dremel Drum Sander.

Everyone is different and grips are quite personal -- the Pach Diamond Pros are uncomfortable to me (they allow the trigger guard to impact my middle finger and the narrow upper drives into the web of my hand).


All of my 44s & 480 SRH Alaskan are equipped with the Hogue X Frame 500 "Tamers" shown above - they just work for me.

Open backstrap on the 19002 -- the covered backstrap 500 X Frame Tamer is the 19022

This was my experience as well. The Pachs felt great to hold, but were very uncomfortable to shoot for the reasons outlined above.

I've got the X frame Hogues on both of my Mdl 69's as well as my 329PD and 629-4 Mtn Gun. I just love those grips!
