I know the mothership has the proper tool for barrel replacement, but is there another way to remove the barrel? This model has the 2-piece barrel; a liner wit the rifled bore, and a shroud that goes on top of and is captured as the liner barrel is tightened. I have a 2.75" barrel on the revolver and I would like to replace it with a 4.25" barrel which I have. The mothership reports a 6 to 8 month delay for this work.

Maybe I should man up and learn to shoot full-power magnums in this pistol. I bought it with my eyes wide open, so I can't complain, but full power magnums and a 2.75" barrel just don't work for me.

Might not be much difference in recoil. The longer barrel will give a higher muzzle velocity, and thus more recoil, but more weight from 1.5" longer barrel. Powder weight factors in there, also.
Biggest difference will be less blast from longer barrel.

73,
Rick
