Model 69?

Not sure what I have here. Could use some help from the experts. I just returned from the Kalispell MT gun show and acquired this .44 magnum revolver. I thought it was a 629, but while servicing it found the number 69 on the yoke. ?? Any thoughts?

That is indeed a 5 shot L-frame M69. Great guns, everybody that has one seems to like them a lot, including me!

Thanks for the quick response Mike! I just received an email from another member with a detailed explanation of what I have. The Model 69 was introduced in 2014. ( that's why I couldn't find it in my reference books as they are older than that). It is a 5 shot Model 69 chambered in .44 Magnum. And I love it! LOL

From the looks of that enormous grip, the previous owner was a little recoil shy.

I had. 2.75 inch barrel.
Didn't much care for it. I didn't shoot it well.
Got rid of it and replaced it with a 7 shot, three inch 357, on the same frame. The 357 is much more accurate. 170 SWCs at 1200 isn't 44 mag territory, but then again, I now have 2 more rounds.

Just shot my new M69 for the first time today. It's a handful, but its shoots a bit softer than I expected. Definitely not a long range day kind of gun, but if you've ever shot 357 out of a J frame, its not that bad.
