I wanted to post this on here for any fans of Third Generations to see and discuss! I just got this about 2 weeks ago. I have read several things about this model and not sure where this one would fall as far as date /quantity / rarity. I personally prefer to collect Third Gen Smiths over any other gun / pistol out here. My lifelong goal is to obtain as many of them as I can! I started my collection about 8 months ago when I came upon a model 410 in A local pawn shop. I now have 11 3rd's and 1 2nd! I'm glad to be able to join this forum.

It took me a while to warm up to the DAO models . But after shooting and getting used to them , I kind of like them . It sounds like you got bit by the S&W bug , like so many of us . Just hope you don't get bit by the PC bug , the older models . It's a slippery slope , and a very expensive trip .

Would that be the Performance Center bug? haha I have A couple of the newer shield PC models but noting of real value . Were there A lot of the older semi-autos from the 80's-90's that were ran through there? If so I would love to see some. I know the 945 is A beautiful PC gun.

is the 469 not a 3rd? I have my eye on one now for around $500 w/ the original box and 2 mags.

The 469 is a 2nd gen, well a 2.5 gen...

It still has the integral front sight, separate grip panels and back strap, plus some other things but it does have the 3rd gen side plate and pressed in barrel bushing

If you are accustomed to shooting double action revolvers, the DAO S&W pistol's trigger action feels very familiar.

Thanks for the information. I'm looking to pick one up hopefully soon. I have a nice 639 and A 645 to the 469 would be a nice addition considering it's 2.5 gen status. are there any other models that you know of that would be considered a hybrid like that?

Well the 669 would be the stainless (and alloy) version of the 469.
I don't know much about them (59 series guy) but I think some 645s have 2nd and 3rd gen features.
Then there's the RSR 'transitional', although they're not transitional but made up for RSR a few years after the 3rd gens were released.

Which one do you carry every day?

i'm ashamed to say that I do not EDC any of my 3rd gens. I usually carry a glock 42 but plan on carrying my bodyguard 2.0 when i get it off layaway haha
