What do forum members think about the 909? Single column value line 9mm made for just a couple years, I think.

I've got a Model 39 from 1959, but I don't want to wear it out, so the idea of a newer single column pistol appeals to me for range use, maybe even carry.

Anyone own one?

The 909 seemed to be a good idea for S&W back in the crime bill days - a more ergonomic alternative to the thicker gripped 910 with a difference of only one round in magazine capacity. I think that there were enough pre-ban high capacity mags available at the time that people bought the 910 anyway.
I have no experience with the 909 but I would buy one if the price was right as I am a big fan of S&W single stack pistols. I occasionally search for these on Gunbroker and there are three on the site currently - more that I've ever seen at one time.
You might also search for a 3904 or 3906 - both single stack third generation full sized pistols - the true modernized versions of the model 39.

Sorry, but I'd sure like to!

In for pics,

I really like mine. Never had any problem firing any ammo. I bought a Sig P250 and went back to the 909. I just wish that someone made replacement grips for them. I'm using a Pachmayr slip-on grip now.
