I understand that there is a trigger pull adjustment somewhere on the Model 952.

Can anyone who has done this procedure please point it out how this is done?

There isn't really a pull ajustment to speak, there is both pre-travel and overtravel ajustments. The over travel screw requires removing one of the grip panels to access, the pre-travel requires taking the slide off and is a allen screw that comes into contact with the trigger. You need to find the go-no-go point each way and back off about a half turn. If you leave right at the edge you may not get positive reset/release each time.

Trigger pull

I just got off the phone with Roland Provost (S&W Performance Center Tech).

He told me that there is no adjustments for the owner to perform himself.

The 952 was set up to let off at 3.5 pounds and to hold 4 pounds. I feel my trigger pull is a bit heavier than that, so I will gauge it today and see.

S&W did offer to adjust the pull for me at no charge if I send it in.

I may shoot a few hundred rounds through it first to see if it changes at all. This gun is virtually new so I am sure it's still getting worked in.

S&W actually had a special sear spring to increase the trigger pull weight to 3#'s. Normally a 52 had a 2.5# trigger for NRA centerfire. International shooters needed a 3 pound trigger to be legal for their event. I was lucky enough to get this heavier sear spring years back when I shot this event. Depending on how this spring is bent can alter the trigger weight. I was told (or heard) to leave all the other springs stock.
The guy that gave me this spring said that I would have to bend the spring to get my gun close to 3 lbs. Initally, when I put it in it was too high at around 3.75lbs, so I had to play with it to get it right.
The guy got these special sear springs Years back (70's)from a S&W representative that handed them out to clubs active in international shooting. And don't set the allen screws too close to the edge of working. Like HG 356 said, back the screw out enough to make sure the trigger resets.
I have a 52-2 and recently got another 745.....great single action guns!

Someone is confused. Maybe me? Do you have a Model 52 or a Model 952? Which one was the Tech referring to as "no adjustments for the owner?"

I'll admit I've never been inside a 952, but I owned a 52 a couple of decades ago, and there WAS some adjustment available, though I don't recall the exact details, other than removing the slide and an allen screw near the trigger.

Sorry guys, my bad! I meant to write "952".
However, according to S&W, there are no magic trigger pull adjustment on the 52 OR 952.
Come to think of it, only a High Standard I once owned had a feature like that.

I have one of the now long discontinued, and very rare, HK P9S Target Models. It has the 'smooth' HK polygonal bore. Looking down the bore, there are 5 semi 'flat' sides on the barrel, that twist.

This allows the use of inexpensive cast lead bullets with virtually no leading at all, even after hundreds of rounds. This type of polygonal 'rifling' is sadly also now long discontinued.

If you take the slide off, there is a very small set screw that allows the user to adjust the trigger pull weight. You can literally set the trigger pull down to zero.

I have mine set to 2.0 lbs., the lightest weight I am comfortable with for a semiauto pistol. It also has an adjustable trigger stop, which removes the DA capability for the pistol. Pivot the trigger stop back into the trigger guard, and the DA is restored.

Accuracy is very, very good, even with the cast lead bullets and many times reloaded, mixed brass I reload.

If it had a longer barrel and sight radius, I'm sure the accuracy would be even better; it only has a 4" barrel.

It is a pity this fine pistol was discontinued. It was very expensive to manufacture: it used the roller locking action of the HK G3 sub machine gun, and had a metal frame with a removable polymer 'skin'.
