Any idea of value? She is looking to sell.
I personally don't see enough of those changing hands to even estimate fair market value, but it may go for more than you might think. Being an 1899, and a target model, and in that condition, that gun would definitely bring good money if advertised in the right place.

I'd definitely advise her not to accept the first offer she gets.
 
Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 5th Edition says a Very Good condition gun is $800. The Target model is worth a 2X to 3X premium. To grade Very Good the gun needs 40% original finish. I think this one is better than that, but not up to what it takes be Excellent. I could see the gun bringing $2,000 or so at auction. I paid around $1,000 for this one a year or so ago with an incorrect front sight.
