Models 29 & 629

New Guy with questions...about 15 years ago I bought my father in laws entire gun collection. Put some in the safe & forgot about them. I got two of them out tonight and I'm wondering what I can learn about them here.

The first is a model 29, .44, 6 " Barrel, blued finish, walnut grips
serial number AHW8XXX. In the original box with the cleaning kit and while I'm not familiar with grading I'm gonna guess this at at least 95% as I don't think it's been fired but if it has it's only been a few times. Under Features on the box tag are the letters TT TH RR WO ?

The other is a model 629, .44, 3" barrel, stainless, original rubber grips, serial number AWF6xxx. In it's original box with cleaning kit. Again at least 95% as it probably hasn't been fired but if it has it was only a couple of rounds..

Wondering how old they are, how desirable they are and a ballpark value if possible?

Can't really help with value but pretty much any variation of the the 29 or 29 is extremely popular.

What barrel lengths?

He noted in his original post the 29 was 6" and the 629 was a 3 incher..

I could give you ballpark, but would be better if you posted pics. Your 95% might be 90% to someone else. The 29-3 is around $650-$750. The 629-1 is around $700-$850. You could go on gunbroker.com and search for similiar models to see what they are selling for.

When you look at Gun Broker ignore the asking prices and do an advanced search and see what the ones that sold actually sold for.

I also concur that Quakertown has the prices in the ballpark but like he said condition and location is everything and they fact that you have the boxes and other stuff adds to the value. These are both sought after evolvers so they should sell quickly if you decide to sell them. Don't take them to a Pawn Shop or Gun Store to sell them or you will get far less as they want to make a profit on the guns when they resell them.

Thank you gentlemen... not sure I want to part with them but it's good to know what I have. I'm retired law enforcement with a few semi autos I am more familiar with.. For concealed carry I use a 5 shot chief that I bought new about 28 years ago.. plenty of holster wear , but real comfortable..

Yeah, missed that. I was fixated on the serial numbers and The Book.
