Models 581 / 681

Hi:
Did these Models come with barrels shorter than 4" ?

Several Performance Center and distributor special 681s were issued with 3" barrels.

TAROMAN is right about the special 3" versions. Regular production models were all 4" as far as I have ever heard or known. I have a 3" 681 from the Performance Center that has a Birdsong green/black finish. Other than the ugly color it's a handy revolver. I bet if Smith had offered a 3" round butt version in either stainless or blue steel it would have sold well.

I like my 581, but a "compact" version would be sweet.
