The "story" making the rounds that I'm familiar with about the Cobra revolvers is that many parts are coming from a "vendor" and that Cobra does little more than the assembly. Given that they are even marketed as a "J frame", it has been suggested that Smith and Wesson *is* the parts supplier/vendor...

On their site they say many parts, including the barrel, are made using mim. Also somewhere on the net is a firing report. Can't remember where, but it was not all bad.

Followed the link from the OP. Don't think I would want nor trust a gun from a company that does not pay attention to detail on their website. From the description of the gun:

It features a sold stainless steel cylinder and barrel.

Should be SOLID . . .

Cheap is just that. If you want inexpensive look around at some of the surplus companys, they have police trade in model 64's for around $240. I know its not a J frame but Id rather have a used K frame than a J frame clone made by a company thats known for making $150 semi-autos. Dont forget, your life may depend on it someday. JMO

Yeah, this is a forum. If you aren't interested in reading something, look at something else!

I do agree that this is a cheap firearm, however, I doubt that shooting one would kill you. On the contrary, like RG pistols, these inexpensive guns could encourage more people to own handguns that may not be interested in spending $500 and up for a high quality pistol. If you look at the customer reviews on some websites selling surplus S&W pistols usually a handful of people are unsatisfied with theirs or it doesn't work right without repairs.

Just some thoughts...
