Might be the same as "Montana Peak". I think the old Army campaign hat was an example. My father said that was the only hat the Army ever issued that made sense.

Yes, either the U.S. "Campaign Hat" or the Canadian "Mountie". A cowboy hat creased with three or four "dimples". I assume to shed snow and rain better than any other crown.

That there was a picture of Hoot Gibson. Even Dave and I ain't that old.

I remembered about not posting stuff that ain't mine so I deleted it.

Google Hoot Gibson and you'll see the Montana Peak hats.

This'n was made in Montana, worn in Montana and fanned it's share of broncs, been stomped, and once blew off'n Wolk Creek Pass in Colorado, thus the worn crease...

The Wikipedia article on the "Campaign Hat" says it was officially adopted in 1911, the troops in Cuba in 1898 found the Montana Crown shed rainwater better than the regulation center crease.
