Took my customized Mosin to a 2-day counter-sniper course. Great gun for that. Only one problem: the gun requires a scout scope with super-long eye relief and the only scope I have for this gun doesn't have any elevation markings, just the basic crosshairs. Does anyone out there have a suggestion for a scope that a) has a long-eye relief; b) will take the pounding of 7.62 x 54R recoil; c) and MOST IMPORTANTLY - has elevation hash marks in the reticle?

Hello Ron and welcome to the forum.

I had several Mosins over the years and looked into scoping them using a pistol scope and I believe .22 caliber rifle rings mounted on the rear sight base forward of the receiver? It's been years since I've seen the video on YT but I'm sure others with more knowledge will pop in here today and add some advice.

I mounted a Hi-lux long eye relief 2x7 LER27X32BDC (around 125$) I bought on amazon... on the rear scope base after taking the existing rear sight off.

However, I don't recall exactly what was involved taking the rear sight off or what exactly it was I mounted it to...But I'm cheap and not a gunsmith, so...It wasn't that hard or expensive.

I've put a few hundred rounds thru it and it works well.

I suggest going to one of the many AK-47 forums and ask around, lots of guys know Russian stuff.

To answer the question: Contact the CS people at Leupold at 1-800-LEUPOLD. They have a custom shop for several options. Maybe you need a custom reticle or maybe you need a custom mount (or maybe you need a different rifle.) There is going to be a price involved, if you don't have the means to pay for it, don't bother these nice people.

Never heard of anyone using Mosin-Nagant and Leupold in the same sentence...but he does live in Cal, so maybe Mosin is all he can buy. :)
