I have a cure.

I tame dragonflies and train them to do my bidding...

... then I send them out to eat more mosquitos!

I even get them to work at night...

Steve, pretty sure that this is a Fawn Darner; Boyeria Vinosa, but we have so many very similar types here that it's tough to tell.

We also have Clubtails, Spiketails, Crusiers, Emeralds, Skimmers and Damsels.... I've always said that I would collect and catalog them all, but never could bring myself to kill them when they are so efficient in removing the 'skeetahs from my backyard. Without them you couldn't stay 10 minutes on the deck.

I was raised in wisconsin and mesquitos were the worst part of liveing there. I moved to california and then utah and have only seen next to no mosquitos here. I see gunslinger808 lives in arizona. I am surprised you are bothered by mosquitos there. Must live by irrigation ditchs?

I believe it. Last time I was in FL the mossies were in full horde mode. I got some great dragonfly pictures, too. My late wife said the dragons were too full to fly away when I approached.

Here in Virginia, we have two sizes of skeeters, the size that come through the screen and the size that just open the door. The good thing is a 44spl will usually take one down.

A Favorite Subject....

I love Dragonflies and find them to be photogenic and in fact, some are real hams...

I even got this guy to smile for the camera!

I'm sure my nieghbors all think I'm daft sneaking up on bushes and shrubs or chasing about the lawn in my bathrobe with a camera in my hand....

The dry weather has put an end to most of the problem. Last year, with the spring flooding, they ate us alive. As a foot note, we don't have any natural standing water nearby, which helps. I have numerous rain barrels that, left alone, will produce a fresh crop all summer. To combat this, every time I empty a barrel I add a tablespoon of vegetable oil. When it fills the oil floats on the top preventing the larva from surfacing to mature.

I hate mosquito's. I the evening I surch my seeling and wall for them. I sneek up to them and fry the little bugs.
