good morning all.
I recently purchased a Mossberg 500 12G , 20" barrel.
Over the weekend I ran a dozen or so slugs thru the gun.
The recoil was almost unbearable...

I am no stranger to 12G shotguns, however I haven't fired one for approx. 20 yrs or so (56 yrs now). But this HD bad boy delivered a kick that certainly was not expected.

question:
there are numerous add-on recoil pad solutions available.
does anybody have an experience or suggestion w one brand vs another?
thx so much - have a great day!

Kick-Eez. Limbsaver and Pachmayr are the three biggest names in the after market pad arena. Shooting heavy fast loads in a gun that doesn't fit well will let you know it in a hurry.

After reading these reply's, I had to look at my shotgun to make sure what pad I did have on it. On the Mossberg it is a Limbsaver, not KICK EEZ. I would recommend either one.

I bought the Kick-EEZ and for the price it is fantastic. I got the large slip over so I can swap it to whatever long gun I am using at the time. It really tames recoil on my Remington 1100 12ga. At my age even the 1100 without the kick-eez was more than I wanted to feel.

When I first shot my Mossy 500 cruiser I thought holy cripe this is one killer mule kicker. I replaced the original stock with a ATI tactical kit that has recoil absorbing pads made onto it and what a difference that made. I can shoot it with just wearing a T-shirt without any bruising or pain.
