I just purchased a model 46 and it won't feed, I think it has something to do with the elevator. The rounds will exit from the tube but they don't get pushed up far enough to engage the extractors fully. It has a j shaped elevator and 2 leaf springs but I don't know if the previous owner assembled it correctly. All the info I can find is the J faces towards the rear with the notch down, but the pictures only show 1 spring and not 2 for that model. Thanks in advance.

I have a 46M and I did have a problem with feed. The magazine tube was able to slide toward the muzzle and away from the bend leading to the elevator leaving a gap where a cartridge could and did hang up. The cure was set screws in the rings at the muzzle end and the feed end through which the tube passes. The set screws keep the tube from moving.

Make sure when safeing the rifle that you visually confirm you see the follower at the feed ramp and not the rim of a stuck cartridge.

Thanks for the reply's . I joined rim fire central and they have a Mossberg forum so hopefully someone can help with issue at hand. I guess they made a lot of model 46 variants. The old salt web page looks similar but their are differences. I am going to the range today to site her in.
