I have been riding since 1966. Last time I looked, there were 22 motorcycles out back. I have some others at remote locations. Several BMWs, four Suzukis, a couple of CZs, a Puch, a Jawa, an MZ, just one Guzzi, one Triumph (several of those have left), a few Hondas, a Kawasaki, a KTM, and my most recent, a Cagiva 650 Alazzura SS, a kind of a poor man's Ducati. I have owned a few Yamahas, but don't have any now. My only bevel-drive Ducati has gone down the road.
The coolest bike I ever owned was a BSA DBD34 Gold Star; I wasn't nearly cool enough for that bike, but I rode it anyway. I wish I had picked it up 20 years later, when my mechanical skills were more developed.
I have done a bit of road racing, vintage MX, and vintage trials, but I am mostly a touring, commuting and recreational rider. Weekends I ride in the coulee country of western Wisconsin. My other favorite venues are the Black Hills, the Copper Canyon area of Chihuahua, and the western states, especially Wyoming, Colorado and Utah. I usually do a few BMW rallies and dual-sport rallies a year, and visit the Black Hills for Rally Week. I'll be going out there next weekend for a couple of days of dual sport explorations in the Hills.
You could say I am a motorbike junkie.
